Eagles accidentally throw Super Bowl ring into Mt Doom

Philadelphia’s emotional roller-coaster continues after reports one of the Super Bowl championship rings was flown to the nearby volcano of Mt Doom and cast into the fiery chasm after mistaking it for the birthplace of all Super Bowl rings.

Head coach for the eagles Nick Sirianni, stated the catastrophic error was due to a miscommunication sparked by pressure from fans to drop ‘one ring’ into the active volcano.

“What people don’t understand is that NFL players are trained to listen to loud instructions and obey them without question, so if you keep yelling that they should take the ring to the volcano… well that’s going to happen”.

The NFL has said they won’t identify which players actually destroyed the ring but has ruled out rumours it was a pair of scrappy underdogs inexplicably travelling on foot when they could have flown all the way.

Commissioner Roger Goodell denied any knowledge of the incident before being told that it wasn’t about concussions.
