Former Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce took time out during parliamentary question time to congratulate Olympian Cathy Freeman on her recent ‘historic race’ the he claims he watched live.
“I was ja…just at the pub” he said talking directly at a wall, “and I saw such a great race by a woman, could you believe that?”
“We were all there cheering on Cathy Freeman live, what an incredible sight to behold. I reckon it will go down in history.”
The families man went on explain that he is a huge fan of ‘lady sport’, “just like I am female junior staffers. There’s just so much to look at.”
“I love keeping up to date on it, I hear soon they are going to start letting women play aussie rules! I’m so excited at the idea that they will probably have a pro-league at some point.”
