The Swedish football team have awarded referee Cheryl Foster the coveted ‘Player of the Match’ award after their third place victory over the Matidas.
“It’s hard to understate how important she was for our victory,” said the Swedish Coach, “she was always there to back up our girls whenever they needed her.”
“From ignoring our fouls, to ignoring Kerr’s injury and giving that crucial penalty for lightly touching our players ankle, she really kept the momentum up for us and held off any chance the Matildas had.”
Foster said she was honoured to receive the reward saying, “it’s always been my dream to represent Sweden and lead them to a victory.”
Reports suggest that alongside the trophy, Foster will also reportedly be receiving a lifetime supply of IKEA furniture and meatballs.
