Dutton says cyclone impacted voters don’t matter since they’re “about to have water lapping at their door”

An embarrassing hot-mic moment for Opposition Leader Peter Dutton as he was caught claiming those voters in his electorate don’t matter since they’re “about to have water lapping at their doors”.

The audio was unknowingly captured while Dutton was preparing to give a speech at a secret fundraiser he was holding at a Sydney billionaire’s mansion.

“God all these voters trying to make demands of me,” he joked, “luckily they wont be able to complain about climate change when their houses are destroyed.”

“We don’t need to worry about them, if they really mattered they would be safe in a hilltop mansion.”

Dutton defended himself by telling voters, “Look, I don’t hold a sandbag mate.”
