Dear Chaser readers,
We are sad to announce that our team will be deported under the new rules set up by the ‘anti-cancel culture brigade’ where if you make fun of Trump, the “Freedom of Speech Warriors” will restrict your freedom.
‘Freedom of Speech Absolutists’ understand that any time someone in Aussie media says something deeply bigoted, that is just an ‘edgy joke’ and everyone needs to lighten up. However, when a comedian makes an edgy joke at a rock concert about someone they like, we have to ship the comedian off to Nauru and torture them!
Obviously this new rule makes complete sense and clearly Kyle Sandilands should be the one who decides what is acceptable. A man who sometimes manages to go whole minutes without attacking a minority group.
Now you might be wondering, “why don’t you guys just not make fun of Trump on stage?”
But sadly, today is the launch of The War on 2024: Annual Comedy Gala, with tickets now available. A national tour of satirical comedy, sketches and headlines that will go for two months (or until we all get banned from the country).
Starring Charles Firth, James Schloeffel, Mark Humphries and the sensational Veronica Milsom; the show will be sure to be the best way to relive the year that has felt like Barnaby after falling off a planter box.
Our lawyers hope that there is enough time to be able to defend the jokes in border force court, but just in case, the cast have spoken to Jack Black’s PR team and decided that Charles Firth will be the one thrown under the bus the second people raise an eyebrow.
For legal reasons we do need to say that any ‘shots’ taken by the comedians at politicians are all metaphorical.
Yours,
John Delmenico
Editor of The Chaser and future political prisoner.
