Spare some change for Alan Joyce

This newsletter is brought to you by democracy, manifesting at half-mast this week.

Dear readers,

Normally we use this newsletter as a way to have a laugh and maybe ask people to buy tickets to the live show, but that feels inappropriate this week.

As you’ve probably heard a great tragedy has occurred as Alan Joyce’s Qantas payout lost $9m in transit.

That’s the sort of money that could buy you a 2 bedroom apartment in Sydney! Sure it would be a bit of fixer-upper, but still.

Now the former CEO is going to be slumming it with a payout of roughly $14m, which in this economy is barely enough to do a grocery shop at Woolies.

Clearly, when we think of public figures that we admire who deserve lots of money, we all think of Alan Joyce.

So please this week, instead of donating to us, we urge you to dig deep and give what you can to Alan Joyce.

Let’s be the caring nation of mateship that we are proud to be, by helping out a failed CEO in need.

Yours,

John Delmenico

Editor of The Chaser and new member of the Qantas Chairman’s lounge.
