Santa’s workshop has criticised the Australian government following revelations they received a request from a Sydney mum wanting a simple bag of staples from Woolworths.
“This cost of living crisis has gone too far!” exclaimed Mrs Claus at a press conference this week. “First of all, a bag of groceries from Woolworths shouldn’t cost $70, and second of all – Mums shouldn’t be praying that Santa brings one!”
Elves at Santa’s workshop report it’s the saddest request out of Australia they’ve seen in a long time. “Normally the depressing requests come from American kids who don’t want to be shot or kids in war zones or famines…. But Australia? This is a new low.”
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has responded stating that cost of living relief was right around the corner, “I grew up in council housing with my mum and it was hard to make ends meet, but we managed. I’ll never forget what my Mum said to me on Christmas, she said ‘Anthony, don’t give out cost of living relief BEFORE an election, promise you’ll do it after’. That’s something I take very seriously and so we’ll be helping more Australians with cost of living relief, after the election.”
