Landlord celebrates rate cut with generously small rent increase

In a moving display of kindness, a local ‘entrepreneur’ with 15 investment properties has graciously only raised his rents by $10 a week following news that cash rates have been cut for the first time since 2020.

“I’m just that kind of guy” he said while double parking his BMW, “with interest rates going down, I thought it was only right to do the noble thing here. Just think of the amount of coffees my tenants wont have to give up due to this noble sacrifice.”

The magnanimous landlord who declined to be identified due to ‘ongoing tribunal proceedings’ has stated he planned to raise the rent by ‘conditions appropriate to the market’ or ‘whatever the real estate company tells me I can get away with’.

“We’re all doing it tough, I just rented out our winter cabin so now the kids and I are probably forced to spend the winter at our beach house. Really makes you think about those doing it tough.”

“At the end of the day, it costs nothing to be nice” he said before swatting at a bird that landed near his car.
