Former employees of airline Rex have expressed relief that while they may not get their contract paid out due to a ‘lack of funds’, six days ago the CEO’s contract was changed meaning he will now get $325K.
“That’s such a relief,” said single dad Jeremy who just lost his job and will likely wait months for the money he is owed, “this really takes some stress off my shoulders.”
“When I heard that the company can’t afford to pay any of the workers, my initial thought was of course ‘Oh no, how will the CEO afford to feed his family caviar?'”
“But luckily he changed his contract in the last week in a way that would protect him if something like a surprise shut down happened. It’s always nice to hear of a win for someone who deserves it.”
When asked if the federal government will step in regarding the sudden closure of the regional airline, a representative for the government stated that they will not, “we only have enough to help out the little guys like Qantas and Virgin.”
