Kevin Rudd’s official portrait revealed

Former Prime Minister, turned minister, turned prime minister, turned opposition leader, turned ambassador the the US Kevin Rudd unveiled his official portrait in Canberra yesterday.

While traditionally the portraits are just headshots, Rudd decided to fill his with easter eggs to some of his most notable things about his tenure as PM like his cat, chess, the ‘Sorry’ speech and of course his knifing of Julia Gillard.

“It was tough to fit it all in on the canvas,” said the artist, “but eventually I was able to find enough room for his entire ego.”

“There was a bunch more easter eggs I wanted to add in like a crying flight attendant, torturing refugees and having it all set at a secret strip club meeting in New York with News Corp execs; but Rudd wanted it to reflect his post-prime ministership legacy where we pretend that stuff didn’t happen. Hence the inclusion of the beard.”
