Following potentially the largest protest in Australian history, the Albanese government has announced that they will soon start the process to make Australia one of the last countries in the UN to acknowledge the existence of Palestine.
This comes just one day after the Deputy Prime Minister labeled Australia an ‘F-35 country’ in response to questions about why Australia still provides weapons parts being used in the destruction of Palestine.
“We have always supported recognising Palestine,” said the PM who last year kicked a senator out of his party for voting in favour of doing that.
“We hope that by planning to take this first step, with conditions, Australians wont remember us as the government that refused to sanction our buddy Israel or stop supplying them with fighter jet parts, but as the government who was dragged into recognising Palestine.”
“For now on, when we say we are ‘deeply concerned’ about the deaths of people being killed by someone, we will be doing so while acknowledging that the country those people are from exists.”
In response, the Liberal Party put out a statement slamming the idea of recognising a Palestinian state. Claiming that Australia should stick to calling for a ‘two-state solution’ that doesn’t involve one of the two states.
