A local workplace has celebrated a job well done with the annual R U OK Day morning tea, creating awareness and providing support for all the mental health issues the company causes every year.
“We’re deeply committed to our staff being mentally ill, but we also acknowledge that we have to make an effort every year to show that we do understand everything that’s happening while also inviting them to sort it out amongst themselves,” said most CEOs.
“Raising awareness without providing a budget or resources for support is a cornerstone of the Australian workplace so we invite everyone (except the staff we need for coverage/optics) to have a conversation with someone if they aren’t feeling okay. Not us of course but we have an employee assistance program where you can have 3 informal counselling sessions a year, that’s all you need right?”
R U OK morning teas were held across the country, with themed shirts, banners and absolutely nothing for people who answer the question with ‘No’.
“After all, what’s deep seated trauma and anxiety against themed cupcakes and an assortment of stale cheese at 10:30am,” said a dead inside HR manager.
“Look, the ‘O’ on the cupcake is a little smiley face. So, problem solved!”
*EDITOR NOTE: If you’re experiencing mental health issues at work, support is available by contacting and joining your local union. You can also call Lifeline and Beyond Blue. While we can’t help you with mental health stuff but at least we don’t fucking lie about it .
