Mum returns baby to shelter after rescue cat’s aggression

A Melbourne mum has had to make the tough choice between her rescue cat and newborn baby after the pair didn’t get along. For Sandy, returning the newborn to a shelter was a no-brainer.

“I’ve had the baby for a week, but my cat has been with me for 5 years,” she told The Chaser. “As soon as Mr Fluffles started hissing and attacking the baby, I knew it wasn’t safe to have them both under one roof. Something needed to change.”

“I can always have another baby, but I’ll never be able to adopt another cat with the same personality as Mr Fluffles. I need to look after my fur baby.”

“Besides, I barely knew the baby! He’ll be fine without me.”

Sandy lays the majority of the blame on the baby, insinuating he should have tried to be more understanding of her cat. However, she assures us that the baby went to a no-kill shelter so another family will likely take him in.
