Screaming into the void: unhelpful or just yet to work?

As the world continues to feel increasingly bleak with the stress of the news, the economy, the housing market, the multiple global conflicts, inequality, fuckwit bosses and day to day bullshit – many have resorted to screaming into the void for relief.

Screaming into the void is a technique that takes on many different forms, with some resorting to social media, others using group chats, the more traditional pillow scream or even just screaming internally (as shown by every woman when a male colleague tells her the basics of her own job).

While cheeky void screams feel like they will never end, many have begun wondering if this technique will solve any of the fundamental societal problems.

“This technique has been used for millennia,” said Dr Steph Smith of Void Scream University, “and in that time things have gotten better in society. So there is at the very least a correlation.”

“But correlation does not mean causation and if I see any tabloids run my claim as a definitive stance like they do with every other correlation, I am going to fucking scream.”

“Also, is the only way for it to be helpful to cause change? What if it is slowly working just by bringing catharsis? What if thinking about this all this much makes me want to scream into the void?”
