Opinion

In the current media landscape, there is one pillar of society that is more important than anything else: the opinions of people who are paid to have ‘hot takes’ on everything.
Unlike the boring takes of those silly ‘experts’ who constantly yap on about ‘needed and sensible solutions’, what we need right now is heroes like me who will stand up and talk over the experts.
There is an old saying that if one person says it’s raining and another says it isn’t, it’s a journalists job to stick their head out the window and check. Columnists are similar but our job is to push the journalist so they cant check, then start pissing out the window trying to hit a few people.
Then, after everyone has dried off, circle back and ponder about how society could reach a point where some people were covered in piss and how we are certainly not to blame.
While there are also many online who constantly give their idiotic takes on every issue, those people are actually making the world a worse place. Unlike myself.
See they are hobbyists, whereas I’m paid to do this which means when I stick my finger in the air and talk about whatever the wind is blowing towards, it is more important than those plebs. Democracy dies when I don’t comment on something.
Some claim that I am smug, but I would argue the real smug people are those experts who claim to know more than me just because they do.
Ultimately, what experts fail to realise is that clickbait opinion writers are the philosophers of our time.
Millennia from now, the world will look back and recognise my take on whatever the viral topic or personal grievance of the week is, and think of me as like Aristotle but better.
