Osama Bean Laden … the first counter attack

[Edition 46] SEATTLE, Monday: Local computer aficionado Jeremy Williams sent all of his friends an amusing photo today as part of his effort to defeat terrorism against the United States. The photo features rubbery-faced British comedian Rowan Atkinson superimposed over a picture of an Arab in traditional garb, and was wittily captioned ‘Osama Bean Laden.’
The amateur humorist made the picture himself using what he describes as “Adobe Photoshop, plus a little bit of old-fashioned American patriotism.” He says he was inspired by other humorous emails he received in the attack’s aftermath. “There’s this great one with four World Trade Centre towers, one bigger than the others, that shows America giving the finger to Bin Laden – that was a pretty funny one.”
Williams says it’s just one example of how terrorists cannot defeat America’s superior technology.
“Bin Laden may be able to destroy our cities, but he can’t destroy American ingenuity,” he said. “We’re cutting edge – whereas I bet the Taliban wouldn’t even know how to use Photoshop.”
Williams says he’s glad to have found a way of participating in the war effort, and claims that his picture is one of the most effective responses to the attacks so far. “Think about it,” he says. “He’s a terrorist; he wants us to be scared of him. But my picture makes people laugh at him instead – that Mr Bean is really funny.” The web wit says he hopes Bin Laden sees his handiwork, and that it “really pisses him off in that cave in Afghanistan”.
